Clubs/Groups Information Past Mayor Of Frisco Speaks At Rotary Club
Pictured above L-R): Rotarian Bill Jones, Kathy Seei and Kathryn Vermillion As the growth of McKinney, Sherman and Denison moves toward Bonham, plans must be in place to be prepared for this growth. Kathy Seei has experienced such growth while she was Mayor of Frisco, Texas when the population exploded by 300% in six years (1996-2002). Seei spoke to the Bonham Rotary Club last week on this subject and told of her experiences in a skyrocketing economy and how the City of Frisco kept up with the boom. With a background in education at the Plano I.S.D. for many years, she had no experience in economic development, but knew what needed to be done. Many, many projects were developed during her tenure on the city council, but four projects were nominated in 2001 for the deal of the year by the Dallas Business Journal: 1) Stonebriar Centre - 1.6M SF shopping mall opened in 2000, 2) Hall Office Park - 4M SF of Class A office with the largest collection of Texas sculpture in the world, 3) Centre at Preston Ridge - 1.2M SF shopping - longest sculpture collection in Texas - opened in 2000, and 4) Sports Complex - 75 acre mixed-use development and serves as home to: the Rough Riders (2-A Ranger Affiliated) Minor League Ball Team (Opened April, 2003); Dallas Stars Practice Ice; Home of Tornado Minor League Hockey Team. Currently Seei is president of SEEI3 which uses interactive tools to transfer core knowledge, transform attitudes and move future plans from the shelf and into action. She observed that Bonham has an atmosphere of working together to get things done. When everyone pulls in the same direction with a master plan, good things happen. The Bonham Rotary Club meets every Wednesday at 12 Noon at the Family Life Center.
